Frequently Asked Questions

Is Physiotherapy the same as physical therapy?

Physiotherapy can be used interchangeably with physical therapy. In most other countries the field is referred to as physiotherapy.

Can I ask my PT questions in between my sessions?

Yes! And this in encouraged! Once you begin treatment you will always be able to communicate with your therapist through call/text/ or email.

Do you offer early/ late or weekend appointments?

Yes we do! We can accommodate just about any scheduling needs you have. We want to make this process as easy for you as possible.

Why don't I need any equipment to do my rehab?

We believe the most important thing in your recovery is getting hands-on care. However, we will instruct you on what exercises you need to do at home. You can do almost every exercise we will show you without using any fancy equipment. Furthermore, we will not fill your treatment session with exercises that you could do on your own time.

Can I use my insurance?

Physio2Geaux operates under a fee-for-service business model, meaning that we accept cash, check, credit cards, debit cards, FLEX, HSA, and FSA in exchange for our services. We are out of network with all insurance providers because doing so allows us to treat patients as we feel appropriate. That means we get to spend a whole hour, 1-on-1 with each patient for every visit.

We will provide you with everything you need to submit your claim to your insurance company. We will also give you instructions on how to submit these claims upon request. Each insurance plan has different out of network benefits, but typically after your out of net work deductible is met, you should be reimbursed for your costs. We will do everything we can assist this process; however, we cannot guarantee that you will be reimbursed.

Do I need a referral?

NO. Louisiana is a direct access state, meaning that you do not need a physician's referral to be evaluated and begin care. If your PT feels that your conditions warrants further medical examination, you will be asked to see your physician for further examination.

Do you offer treatment packages or payment plans?

YES! We offer both. We have treatment packages available in 3,6,9, and 12 packs. Each package is discounted from 5% - 20%. However, since these prices are already discounted, you will not be able to submit your claim to your insurance provider.

We can also arrange for payment plans on a case by case basis. After your evaluation, your therapist will discuss all of your payment options with you.

What to expect from my first treatment?

Your physical therapist will arrive approximately 10 minutes before your scheduled treatment session. We will bring a portable treatment table, as well as some small treatment supplies that we will use for your treatment. It's best if we can set up our treatment table in a quiet space. After we are set up, we will begin our evaluation. At the end of your evaluation we will discuss your treatment plan going forward and schedule the rest of your appointments.

What should I wear?

It's best to wear athletic clothes that will allow the injured area to easily be exposed and palpated.

How many treatments will I need?

We typically treat patients 1-2 x week for 4 - 6 weeks. Although this will vary from patient to patient.

What is manual therapy?

Manual therapy is the use of hands-on treatment techniques to include soft tissue massage, myofascial release, soft tissue mobilization, and joint mobilizations. We believe that patients improve faster when they can receive these specific techniques. Using manual therapy allows us to restore normal range of motion and movement patterns, which will help patients with less restrictions.
